Background of the area

The locals were chased out of the district and the wildlife was hunted on a daily basis for food, causing the numbers to decrease at an alarming rate.

In 1899 war broke out between the English and the Boers with many battles taking place in the valleys of the Magaliesberg mountain range. Peace returned to the district in the early 1900’s when the war-torn area slowly returned to it former splendour. Mother Nature healed the land and restored the breathtaking beauty of the region.
